Life and beauty of Ordu Turkey
One of the best tactics employed to exhibit tourists to the beauty of Ordu the construction of a cable car that transports people over the sky of city towards the summit of mountain. I got in it too and went through the heights of the city. We passed over buildings and had fascinating views of sea. Beauties of the city could be seen as far as the eye can see.
I saw a young man in an internet cafe and became good friends in a short time. There was a one-dollar coin of Canada with me that I gave it to him as a memento. At the moment I felt he kind of dislike it, but well, I didn’t have anything else to give right then. When I was checking my page on Facebook that night I faced a message which was interesting to me. He had written to me that he would keep my coin with him for his lifetime.
One of the Turkish sweets that I really like it is “Bamiyeh”. It is inexpressibly gluttonous. When I was going to hotel at night I bought some and took there. I wished you had been there and have it as well, it was just scrumptious.
The next destination was the city of Rize. When I got there, the family of a friend came to this city to see me. There was a decrepit woman with them who was so infirm to stand so they had to get back to their city soon, but persistently wanted me to inform them whenever I go to their city.
Unfortunately, I didn’t have enough time to explore all over Rize and I was obliged to depart it early in morning. The bank’s credit cards and the journey’s expenditures were still my main concerns. I was struggling with the shortage of money but I was not dejected. I was sure that God will help me.
I left Rize for Ardesen. The road had such attractive scenery that I couldn’t sense the passage of time. On the left side was an infinite blue sea and on the right side flowers and trees had mixed their beauties to show off the amazement of God’s creation.
I passed through several tunnels on the way. It was very dangerous and frightening because the vehicles coming from the front side couldn’t notice me and although I was skating along the sidewalk it was fraught with danger. Especially those huge vehicles that pulled me into the pathway……… thank goodness that nothing happened.
Getting out of a tunnel I went across the highway gently to search for water. Some people encircled me, intending to take off my skates by force to try on. Luckily they were not able to unfasten the skates on, so they left them behind and guided me to water. I drank water and filled up the bottle. I was going to continue my way when I saw a woman who had come there to take water. She took a tender look at me and said: “How do you stand on them sonny?” I unintentionally recalled my mother whom I hadn’t seen in six years.
There was a coastal café in the nearby city of Ardesen. I stayed there and communicated with people with whom I got familiar there. One of them was a wrestler. There is a special kind of sport in Turkey called “Oil Wrestling”. In this kind of wrestling the two contestants apply oil on their bodies before the contest gets started.
A minor accident happened to me. When I got out of the café a bit further I severely hit the ground and my legs slid on cement and got some scrapes with too much irritation. If I had sat there it was not obvious how much I would fall behind the schedule so I ignored my injuries and went on the way. Its blood was flowing into the skates but I couldn’t stop to anything for it. When I removed my socks at hotel they were drenched with blood.
On the way there was a spring in a part of mountain. I stopped there to wash my feet. It stung so bad. It was awful, so I took a rest for a while. Meanwhile I found my backpack sticky of Bamiyeh’s syrup. It was a further reason to tick me off.
Due to my aching knee, I had to stay in Ardesen that night. I entered a supermarket to ask about the address of the nearest hotel. Some women sitting in front of the store invited me to a cup of tea. I gladly accept it. There were two little girls with them and talking to them left me with nice moments. They asked several questions about my journey. Their interest in these issues was so amazing to me. I would appreciate those parents who bring up their children with such a positive outlook on life and travel.
After a brief rest and pleasant conversation, I entered Ardesen. At the entrance of city, I saw a dog ready to attack me. I stayed there a bit then walked by the side of the road slowly. In the meantime, some individuals called me from the nearby café. One of them had seen me on TV and was aware of the reason why I was traveling. He invited me to have some tea. I joined them and had a chat about my journey. An owl which had sat on a tree branch at a corner and had everything under his piercing eyes caught my attention. Despite its small figure I could absolutely sense the latent power in the claws of this free animal through my skin while it was standing on my hand.
Sometimes we should be ashamed of our being human since we trap in cage dumb animals which must be in nature and enchain them in order to be in our possession while we introduce ourselves as the symbol of freedom and justice.
While talking and taking lots of photos, they show me the way to hotel and I skated there for about 5km. I got a room and rest. I did not have enough money with me to buy some food, so I had to make do with bread that night. The next morning, I checked out the hotel early and continued the path.
It is time to describe one of the most fascinating places I have ever been to where left me lots of tangible memories. In my way to Artvin, I came to the decision of going for a swim because I hadn’t done it for a long time, so I went to the left-side coast. There was a rather quiet place and just a few families were there. I removed my skate clothes and got into the water to swim. I was not sure if it was true while I had several injuries and they could possibly get infectious. I checked it out with an attendant who was working there. In contrary to my perception he claimed that water of the sea is the best remedy for your wounds. I dove straight into the water. I decided to take some photos during the swim. I brought the camera and recorded a short but beautiful shot from the inside of the water.
The weather was too hot to walk on sands without any shoes. So after the swimming I directly went in the cold shower. The sands were so hot that I had to get the shower quickly. After that, I stood at a corner to dry out then wore my cloths. This was the final opportunity of swimming in the black sea.
I was really thirsty so because of my passion for melon I decided to buy a small one from a place called Findikli and took it to the coast then began to devour it in accompany with the smooth sound of waves. Of course, on account of being in Ramadan, I had to watch out not to be seen while eating it.
I got to the road and started skating again. I was on my way that a young person called me. I stopped and talked a little. I told him about the documentary I was producing. He said something which was not only attractive, but also strange. He asked me to spend the night with them in order to show me a place where he believed to be suitable for taking photos and videos. I rejected the suggestion because it was hard to me to compensate the lost time. I apologized and said: “I have to keep going.” He persisted to show me some pictures he had taken at least. Maybe it could make my mind changed. Watching the picture wouldn’t take any length of time so we left for his house. I got to know his family and dog which was beautiful and cute. The only thing that I could say as a reaction to the sight of the photos was to say: “Where can I spend the night?” When I got out of the house I was unable to find my shoes thanks to the little dog. I finally got it back after so much chasing it.
We ate lunch there and spend the night in one of their relative’s house. They were really nice people. We went to play football with some of his friends at night. Actually I didn’t play and just took photos and video as much as I could and cover their game visually.
The weather’s heat was unbearable and caused the shortness of breath. On the way back we stopped in a café and had a juice. Once my friend and I exchanged our backpacks, but after a few minutes he regretted because mine was so heavy. During the short distance we passed together he murmured several times: “What have you put in this bag which makes it so heavy?”
At night we discussed about the following day’s plan. Then we go to bed and got a restful sleep. We got up early in morning and packed for our day trip. One of his close friends joined us on the way and we moved in the direction of mountain. I took the skates as well and put them in the car. There was a narrow route among the mountain. During the path, everyone we saw greeted my friend. This was undoubtedly owed to his nice behavior and the beauty of his character. I was profoundly influenced by the moralities of this man in this short period.
We bought some bread, cheese and watermelon and started to walk through the narrow path. Everywhere was covered with trees, flowers and grasses. I had never seen such a spellbinding view. The beauty of this scenery was really unspeakable. Words don’t describe this much splendor. I was ready for a long-distance hiking, but we arrived so soon at the waterfall and the river which was falling down the mountain.
There were several interlocked cascades before my eyes whose fascination was made due to the gravity. The mixture of water, trees, algae and almost everything was an absolute beauty. The remarkable point was that there was no fish in that water. I discarded my cloths at once and jumped into the water. It was so limpid that I wanted to breathe in it.
I fastened the camera to my head so that I could video both inside and outside of the water. I didn’t want to miss any of this beauty; the absolute beauty! At first, I dove into the water from a short height which was fantastic. I was eager to experience the sense of fear and fly. It didn’t take more than few minutes to realize my dream and I decided to jump down from an 8km height. Because of my fear of heights, my friend pioneered to jump. After several minutes of struggling to make up my mind about it, I finally managed to carry it out. When I was floated in the air, my entire body was full of fear. Hitting the water caused an ache in the soles of my feet which was nothing to the fear I had at the time of diving. It is so true when it is said that hard and fearsome things are seemed to be so just at the beginning of facing them.
We cavorted about in water a lot then went to the second waterfall which was divided into several parts. When you surrender yourself to water there, you receive a very tough massage which is enjoyable. I was not able to get out of that. I wanted to give up myself to it for all my life so as to cuddle me.
I was shouting from the bottom of my heart in excitation along with the sound of the water. Even now that I am writing down this, my heartbeat has multiplied of excitement.
What a great and lively time the water provided, accompanied with an indescribable peace. Then it was time to eat watermelon. We had put it in water from the time getting there; so, it had gotten so chilly. We picked it from water and one of the friends started to slice it and the other one put the cheese on the bread in other to eat it with watermelon. My friends had intended to buy chicken, but I changed their mind and suggested this snack.
Meanwhile, my friend’s finger was cut with knife and made us upset. Thank God it was not very serious. We brought dressing tools from the car and dressed it immediately. After a total weariness, we got into the car and got back home.
This was the end of Findikli story. I said goodbye to my new friends and went on my way. Unfortunately, we forgot to exchange our phone numbers and my relation with them came to end.
