The subsequent city was Gaziantep. One day before my arrival, a bomb had exploded there and some children and adults had died in that disaster. I was really touched by that. I thereby expressed my sympathies toward all those who let themselves slaughter people, especially children, to achieve their demands and wish a day that we don’t sight people’s massacre anymore.
My arrival in Gaziantep coincided with president Erdogan’s and it caused to take strict security measures. This matter was somewhat problematic for me. Actually I was unhappy that some innocent people had died in this town. I finally managed to get the city’s Physical Education Board. At first they didn’t have an appropriate attitude because they were not familiar with me. When I talked to several people and it result in nothing, I was going to get out of it that the sport manager called me to his room. I couldn’t believe that I had seen him about 4 years ago in another city and he remembered me. Good for him for having such a powerful memory that he hadn’t forgotten me.
I was so happy to see him after this period of time. He was a successful man and had established many equipped stadiums for athletes wherever he had stepped. I am sure that a wonderful future is anticipating the sport of Gaziantep.
My friend invited me to their home for that night. He gave me address of the place that had chosen for my stay. It took me 2 hours to get there by skate. I got a rest that night and the next morning went to the Physical Education Board again. Unluckily I was not able to see the manager because he was in meeting. Then I went to municipality. There were some reporters that I got familiar with and they worked on the news of my journey. I spoke with several people in town too.
I had gotten into trouble again with running out of money, but my friends solved my financial problem. After some good sightseeing, I went back to the rest house. I had made friends with the guardsman there and when we were bidding goodbye the following day, we exchanged our knives. As a matter of fact, we didn’t forget watermelon and we bought a big one and eat it together.
A bitter sense was moving me from the inside of the town which was arose from the presence of Syrians; those who had lost their properties and lived under that circumstances in a country whose language was not familiar to them and had no teacher to learn it. Wherever I saw them, I felt hatred toward those people’s attitude that just care about their own power and stray other people in order to achieve it while they were faultless and their sole request was having peace.
Almost all cities of Turkey are full of immigrants who lived there with the UN refugee and this is one of the issues which is going to get hidden in Turkey.
Many of friends whom I talked to seriously opposed to my skating in these routes because of being bounded by Syria and the civil war in that country had extended to inside of Turkey. Of course PKK also shouldn’t be overlooked because they had brought up frequent problems for daily life of Turkish people. I hope for a time that officials can solve their problems through talking without hurting anyone instead of applying violence. Maybe it’s better to say wars or even reconciliations take place and the greatest meetings come about to provide facilities for development of human in the course of sublimity.
I departed that city for Osmaniye. Due to it being in a holyday, I didn’t have the honor of talking to officials of that city. As a result, they did me a favor from a far and gave me address of dormitory to stay the night there. I arrived there near afternoon. It was a sport complex with a dormitory.
The weather was so hot that I sweated even through walking. The place where I had to stay was several kilometres out of Osmaniye. When I got into the dormitory, I was extremely hungry. I put my stuff there and went to the entrance of the village. I crossed a very beautiful bridge and saw children who were riding tubes of lorries through river cheerfully. I instantly wanted to dive into the water right away and swim along with them for hours in remembrance of my childhood. Instead I went to a Jegaraky which that is a kind of food shop in which the liver of sheep is roasted and served to eat. I bought several skewers of roasted liver and began to devour it. How much delicious it was! When I was returning to the dormitory, I bought some fruit as well.
I hadn’t changed the wheels of skates from the beginning of the journey; so the 110-milimeter wheels got into 80-milimeter and it really had made the skating a backbreaking activity. I consumed energy twice as much as before versus the less speed I had. Therefore, distances took longer to cover. Hot weather, asphalt softening and many other problems wore me out more and more each day.
Due to the river, there were plenty of mosquitoes in the place where I was and if you hadn’t been careful you would have been bit by them awfully. I couldn’t sleep well at night due to the extremely hot weather while I had an interview the next day and I had to be cheery for it.
The next morning, I gave the interview for about an hour and I was skating that they took photos and videos of it. At the end we said goodbye and it was time for the football game to be held there. I had gone there to watch it, but enter it because they needed a player. I was afraid of getting injured and my journey got into trouble. Luckily nothing special happened and I left healthy. I went to the dormitory and spent the rest of the day in peace.
I said goodbye to my friends in Osmaniye to resume the journey. I asked the guardsman if there were any dogs around there in that time of the early morning. He denied any existence of them with a total confidence. Because of the bitter experience that I had in road, I started to walk instead of skating. Since arriving in Vasmani, I saw about 8 dogs three of which intended to attack me at the same time. I just had a moment to make a decision. If I had run, they would have definitely caught me and in that case God only knew what would happen to me. The other way was to resist it. I would never forget the action I took. I let out such a roar that every three dogs stood immediately and was afraid to approach me.
I had a short rest on the way in Adana. I ate “Adanli” for lunch which was a local food and well-known in throughout Turkey. After a little walking around the town I went towards the road of Mersin which was too crowded and partly damaged.
I was just about to have an accident in the way because I couldn’t control my speed. It was a very earthy road as a result I was going to slip. On the other hand, a bus pushed me to the out of the road to the spot that asphalt was ended; therefore, I stopped strongly in sands. In fact, I managed to stop flawless via a method of slowing down the speed of skates in sands that is definitely familiar to skaters.
