I exited the city of Konya and I started the way to Alanya. It was a long and mountainous road which took two days to passed travel. Alanya is a tourist town which is alongside the southern sea of Turkey and near the famous city of Antalya. It was a verdurous road that reminded northern roads of Iran. On the way, I bought a few figs. The figs were so ripe and delicious. After eating them, I took up the way again.
At my arrival in Alanya I faced some reporters that had come there to have interview with me. I wore another cloth while skating and had changed this skate clothing in the plage which was full of sands and went to the place where they were waiting for me to get interview.
After the interview, I got a room to stay the night because it would take me a long time to get to Antalya. I waited a while before going to the hotel for a piece of news from one of my friends. In the meantime, I went to a teashop and got familiar with a middle-aged lady. She asked me some questions about my journey and the job I was doing and we talked a lot. She also was a cyclist who pedaled a distance of 10 km every day. I was so happy that there were many sportsmen.
I went to the beach at night to stroll. I was speaking with one of my friends while walking. The sands of the beach gave a special calmness to the soles of my bare feet. Those parts of my feet that had blistered got better through the gentle touch of the sands.
While walking in the beach, two people called me and warned me about a poisonous crab. After that I hit someone strongly and both of us fell down. Actually it was not a serious hit and we just laughed and passed.
When you want to enter Alanya, from a distance it’s centre has a shape of island which has made a dreamy perspective owing to its high hills and also its specific verdure. Regarding to my limited stay in that city, nothing out of the ordinary happened.
According to my schedule, I was supposed to arrive in Antalya the day I arrived in Alanya, so I was one day behind. This shift caused me to feel guilt about the sport manager of Antalya who had been waiting for me.
On my way to Antalya, considering the point that the weather was roasting hot, I endured unspeakable hardship. Antalya is one of the most famous cities of Turkey, but I preferred Alanya– better for exploring.
Antalya’s Physical Education Board was nearly out of the town. I had to ask many people the address to reach the place. When I arrived, I climbed the stairs by skate to the third floor where the management office was in. I talked to a person with whom my friends had arranged previously. They were profoundly resented of me for the delay that had happened. Well, it was not my fault because on a trip by skates the time of the next city is uncertain and there might be up to several hours difference between the estimated time and real time.
Anyway, regarding that the manager was not present, the address of the place that I was supposed to stay in was given to me and I moved to the camp soon after getting the address. It was some kilometres away from the town and was situated on a hill. It took several hours skating to it. At the start of ascent, I was traveling in the right side of the road that a police called me and we made friends after a long talk.
After that long chat, I resumed my way and arrived at a zoo where various animals were protected. I entered the zoo immediately and took photos of the animals. When I was taking picture of an ostrich, I got very sad. It was pecking on wires stretched around their cages as if it had been trying to get across something to me. Maybe it wanted to say that it didn’t want to be prisoner and asked me for help. It was a pity that I couldn’t give it a hand.
I went on feet rest of the upwards way. On the way, I cut my hand and it bled heavily. I had gotten used to these injuries and I even didn’t dress it so that it got better itself gradually. I should be grateful to my body that have done this much difficulties to it and it stand them.
When I arrived at the top of the hill a very huge waterfall was seen whose appearance was completely toward the town. Had taken photo, I wanted to ask the address of the place where I was going to that I saw a boy and a girl at a corner. They didn’t notice me at all. I inevitably asked them and disturb their privacy.
On the way, I sat somewhere and had tea then asked the address again to catch it. I also saw some dogs around there. When I approach the place more, sound of shooting gun was heard. I guessed they would definitely invite me to a garrison’s dormitory but apparently there was another place behind of where guns were shooting and I had to go there. Anyway, when I entered I found that they had made a camp from some different schools and they had invited me there. It reminds me of school time. What a time that was!
Manager of the camp said that because the place was a student camp, they could invite me only for one night and I was a guest there for one night. At night I was talking to one of my friends that he told me a little about a friend that he had in this city and linked up us very fast. When we talked to each other, he invited me to their house. Seeing that my money had completely ran out, I accepted his offer readily although I didn’t want to bother anyone. I talked to many children at night. I liked to talk with them and ask if they had any thought to attempt in the various fields of human right and assisting other people is in the plans that they had for their futures or not. Their probable ideas could be a good lesson for me. Unhappily there wasn’t any occasion for these talks.
I got out of bed with difficulty in morning and went to the town with my friends. I got separated from them on way and went to the place where my friend was in. when we met we exchanged greetings then I put my stuff in their home to go out for taking photos. They were a very kind family. They had a pair of very pretty twins that exhibited the purity and beauty of this world on their face.
We went toward the Antaliyas famous waterfall from the path along the coast. During the hour of walking with the new friend, we were both drenched with sweat. We went down from a place where a step of iron and stone has been curved in the mountain. I had lost my camera’s clamp which enabled filming the inside of water in Samsun and I had fastened it with a long string. I liked to film the inside of the Antalya’s water as well. As a result, I dove into the water with it. The thing that shouldn’t have happened occurred. Water got into it and it stopped functioning on spot. From then on I had to work with only one of my cameras.
I was going to jump into the water and between two rocks that my knife dropped into the water. I told some young guys that whoever brought my knife it would be for him. Some of them went between those two rocks but couldn’t bring it. Finally, one of them did it. Well, real men keep their word! So I gave it to him. I wanted to dive as well and swim a little but unluckily my left eye hit the land of water strongly and hurts awfully which irritated me so much.
Afterwards we made for waterfall. During the way we encountered several tourists who had come to visit attractions of this city and this country. We took picture of waterfall from several aspects then move again in our way. The weather was too hot to continue, so we got back to my friend’s house.
Those two little angels(twin) were waiting for me. They called me “Uncle Skatey”. My favorite food was prepared which was macaroni. I really had missed a homemade one. I gorge myself with it.
In the long chat that I had with my friend about my journey and its details and also considering timing and distance, he gave me a suggestion that impacted the whole planning of my journey. We came to the conclusion that I could get to Istanbul 10 days sooner instead I could skate the ending distance of this journey in Istanbul to set a record because Istanbul was a big city and such an action could be taken easily. I changed the map of my journey completely and chose the coastal way then started to arrange the program on the base of the new decision.
My mind was so relieved for I not only could arrive in Istanbul sooner but also fulfill my last Turkish job there. Now I could be in Istanbul ten days sooner. I slept that night in a full peace.
